Atari

Atari (ATARI, NASDAQ: ATAR) is a United States video game company.

Founded in 1972 by Nolan Bushnell, the company is the world’s first company founded with a focus on making video games.

While the company focuses on developing arcade and home games, it has made PCs, pinball and electronic games.

Atari Inc was acquired by the Infogram Group in France in 1999, and in 2009 the former Infogram Group was renamed the Atari brand and became the Atari SA Group. Former Infogram Atari SA is headquartered in Paris, and its subsidiaries Atari Inc and Atari Interactive are headquartered in New York.

Atari Japan is a Japanese branch, but there is Atari Japan, a subsidiary of the former Atari Group, and Atari Japan, renamed former Infogram Japan, and both are different companies.


As of 2017, Atari Inc. sells game machines such as the “Atari Flashback” game machine with a selection of retro games and the “Gameband” gaming smartwatch.
