The arrival of the PlayStation 2 put computer games in a much wider perspective. Compared to the PlayStation, the PlayStation 2 has better graphics, a faster engine and the ability to play DVDs, CD-ROMs and CDs. However, the discs on which PlayStation 2 games were released deviated from the standard. The PlayStation 2 can only read these types of discs, so people cannot use pirated copies or homemade software (aka homebrew).
