Sega Mega Drive

The Sega Mega Drive is a 16-bit game console that was first released in Japan in 1988.

Despite disappointing sales in that country, the Mega Drive quickly became popular with avid gamers. In 1989 a release was made in the United States in which the name was replaced by Sega Genesis due to patent rights. In 1990 the Mega Drive offer came to Europe.
