The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), called Super Famicom (ス ー パ ー フ ァ ミ コ ン, Sūpā Famikon) in Japan, is the second (not counting the Game Boys) in a successful series of Nintendo-released consoles.

It was a 16-bit game console. Striking were the controllers, which were equipped with 'shoulder buttons' for the first time. These are buttons on the top of the controller that can be operated with the index finger.
