Nintendo Virtual Boy
Nintendo Virtual Boy (バーチャルボーイ) is a semi-handheld game console from Nintendo that was first released in 1995. Virtual Boy is the first handheld game console to carry the concept of 'true 3D graphics' by using the principle of stereography in creating of a three-dimensional effect on the screen. The Virtual Boy device is a glasses-shaped projector equipped with a tripod and gamepad. This console uses cartridges for the games. The screen consists of two 2-bit monochrome red screens of 384x224 pixels.
Virtual Boy was first launched on July 21, 1995 in Japan and August 14, 1995 in North America at a price of approximately $ 180. This console is one of the Nintendo-produced consoles that failed in the market; both in Japan and in North America. This console has never been launched on the European market.
