Game & Watch Zelda is the first hadheld Zelda game, and the last Game & Watch game with a double screen. The gameplay is inspirder by Zelda II: Adventure of Link. As opposed to other LCD games, Zelda is rather elaborate, with progressingly difficult levels and an original story.

Eight dragons are wreaking havoc upon the world and kidnap princess Zelda. Link makes his way through a labyrinth on the lower screen, in which ghosts, skeletons, and a goblin roam. When the goblin is defeated, a ladder to the upper screen appears, where Link will fight one of the dragons. This formula repeats eight times and gets harder each time. After defeating a dragon, Link recovers a piece of the Triforce in order to open the door Zelda is locked behind.
