Apple MessagePad 2100 (Newton)

© Moparx

The MessagePad, also known as a Newton, is Apple's first series of Personal Digital Assistant, also known as PDA. The original machine is from 1993 and was developed by Sharp. The first devices were based on an ARM 610 RISC processor, later variants as present in the museum use a StrongARM. The machine is best known (and infamous) for the handwriting recognition produced by Apple. The MessagePad 2100's successor is the iPad.
